EC Introduces Short Code For Voter Verification as Exhibition Begins Tomorrow

The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has introduced a short message service (SMS) platform to enable registered voters to access their registration details.

The short code, *711*51# would enable registered voters to access their registration details at a cost of GH¢0.50 by texting their 10 digit Voter ID Card number to the short code on all networks. After payment confirmation, your Voter ID details will be sent via SMS.

The exhibition of the Voters register would commence on Tuesday, August 20 to Tuesday, August 27.

The eight-days exercise would give registered voters the opportunity to authenticate their personal information at all Exhibition Centers across the country.

The exercise would also help the EC rid the register of unqualified persons ahead of the December 7 polls.

The EC provisionally registered 17,027,641 people at the end of the Biometric Voter Registration exercise with a three-day mop-up exercise which ended on Saturday, August 3, this year.
